Understanding your results
Every name is built from a pattern, and you can choose which pattern you see. The name format setting controls it:
- First + last name gives grounded names like “Jack Hawthorne.”
- With a title adds a mock-formal title, as in “Baron Montclair” or “Captain Stonefist.”
- With a nickname puts a quoted nickname in the middle, like “Jett “The Hammer” Cross.”
- One-word stage name returns a single bold word, ideal for a short handle.
- Mix it up blends all of the above, plus ready-made puns in the Funny and Wordplay styles.
Under each name you will see a one-line tagline. It is there to help you picture the persona, and you are free to ignore it or use it as bio inspiration.
Tip: spin a few batches in different styles before you decide. The best name often turns up in a style you did not expect.

Your drag king name checklist
A generated name is a starting point. Run it through these checks before you print the flyers.
- Say it out loud three times. Does it feel good to announce?
- Search it on Google, Instagram, and TikTok to see if another performer already uses it.
- Check whether the matching social handle is free, if you want one.
- Picture it on a lineup flyer next to other names. Does it stand out?
- Try a stage intro: “Please welcome to the stage…” Does it land?
- Ask two friends which name sounds most like your act.
Using the name generator
Answers to the most common questions about styles, saving, and results.
Have a name idea we should add to the word lists? Send it our way.
How many drag king names can I generate?
As many as you like. Each spin gives you 6, 12, or 24 names, and the “Show more names” button adds another batch without removing the first one.
Why do I sometimes see the same name again?
Within one session the generator skips names you have already seen. If you reload the page or change a setting, the list starts fresh, so a name can come back. A starting-letter filter also shrinks the pool of possible names.
What does Cheeky mode change?
Cheeky mode adds flirty nicknames like “Heartbreaker” and a handful of playful puns. It stays PG-13 and is off by default, so the standard results are suitable for any audience.
How do I save my favorite names?
Tap the heart on any name. Saved names appear in the Saved names panel, where you can copy them all or download them as a text file. They live in your browser on this device only.
How are the eight styles different?
Each style has its own hand-written word lists. Punk & Rock uses words like “Feedback” and “Switchblade,” while Glamorous leans on velvet, champagne, and noble titles. The style guide above shows what each one is best for.
Can I use a generated name as my stage name?
Yes, you are free to use any name you generate. Because names are assembled at random, check that no other performer, brand, or business already uses it. Our Disclaimer explains the limits of what this tool can promise.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The generator is built mobile-first and works in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and computers. There is nothing to download or install.
How do I start with a certain letter?
Open “Fine-tune your names” and choose a letter under “Starts with.” The generator will only show names that begin with that letter. With a title format, the letter applies to the name that follows the title.
